Why We Don’t Do Lock-In Contracts
Joining a gym or starting personal training can feel like a pretty big commitment, especially if you’re not completely sure what you want yet.
You might be getting back into exercise after years away. You might have tried gyms before and struggled to stick with them. Or you might simply want to see whether you actually like a place before committing to it long term.
We think that’s completely reasonable.
That’s why at S&T STEPS in Woori Yallock, we don’t use lock-in contracts for our training.
Why don’t we lock people into long contracts?
Because people’s lives change.
Work gets busy. Family circumstances change. Finances change. Injuries happen. Goals change. Sometimes the type of training that suited you six months ago isn’t what you need now.
And sometimes you try somewhere and realise it simply isn’t the right fit for you.
We’ve been running S&T STEPS in Woori Yallock for ten years, and we’d much rather people train with us because what we offer suits them than because they signed a long-term contract months ago.
How does training at S&T STEPS work?
We have different options depending on how you prefer to train, including personal training, group training and small group weight training.
You can choose the option that suits what you’re trying to achieve and how often you want to train, without signing yourself into a 12-month gym contract.
And if you’re not sure where to start, talk to us first.
We can explain how everything works, what the different training options involve and what might suit you. You don’t need to know exactly what you want before getting in touch.
What if I’ve never been to a gym before?
That’s fine too.
A lot of people who come through our doors aren’t experienced gym-goers.
Some haven’t exercised for years. Some feel uncomfortable in bigger gyms. Some have no idea what half the equipment does. Others already train regularly and simply want some more structure or guidance.
There isn’t a level of fitness you need to reach before you can start.
Exercises can be adjusted to your current ability and experience, and we’ll teach you what you need to know as you go.
Can I try S&T STEPS before deciding?
Yes.
Your first training session with us is free, so you can actually experience S&T STEPS before deciding whether you want to continue.
That gives you a chance to see the studio, meet us, experience how we train and ask whatever questions you have.
We think that tells you a lot more than reading a list of promises on a website ever could.
What about group training?
You don’t need to commit to training every day of the week to be part of our group training either.
Our timetable includes a mixture of strength, conditioning, boxing, Challenge sessions, HYROX-style training, mobility and our Saturday Mix Up, with different options across the week.
If group training interests you but you’re worried about keeping up, let us know. We can explain what the sessions involve and help you work out where to begin.
A gym should fit into your life
Training works best when it’s something you can realistically keep doing.
For one person, that might mean personal training every week. Someone else might love group classes. Another person might combine the two, while someone else may only have room for a couple of sessions around work and family.
There doesn’t need to be one way of doing it.
Our job is to help you find an approach that makes sense for your goals, experience and life outside the gym.
